The new show at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford is the first ever exhibition of the work of Antonio Stradivari, whose violins are considered “the Ferrari” of the instrument world.
Stradivarius Exhibition, Ashmolean Museum, University of Oxford
Started and completed 2013
Conservation By Design supplied 23 showcases for this unique exhibition, the first time a show dedicated to the celebration of the life and work of Antonio Stradivari had been held in Britain. The exhibition brought together 21 of Stradivari’s most important, well-preserved instruments to showcase the brilliance of his craft. Displays included works from 1700-1725, considered to be his golden period, in which his instruments became the classic models on which later violins and cellos were based.
